How to Work in the Gig Economy and Still Reach Your Money Goals

Working in the gig economy offers some great perks. For starters, you get the flexibility of setting your own hours. Plus, you can often find gigs instantly using an app rather than prospecting new work yourself. RE: Number lock turning off when using GP 2015

by VictoriaYudin @ Microsoft Dynamics GP - Recent Threads

The only time I have seen the number lock turn off on its own is when I am connecting to other computers or networks remotely. I connect to many different customer environments every day and if I had to put a number on it, I would say it happens about 20 to 30% of the time.

Basically what happens is that once I am connected remotely my local number lock gets turned off. Disconnecting does not turn it back on, I have to do it manually.

Are you able to narrow it down local vs. remote users of GP?

If you're finding this happens in the middle of data entry, my gut would say there is something causing it that is not out-of-the-box in GP. Only because number lock is pretty widely used by accountants and we would have been hearing people scream about it by now.

So if it IS happening in the middle of data entry, do you have customizations or 3rd party products installed? What else is running on the computer when this happens?

Safe Pay (SafePay) Dialog and Report Suppression

by Jody Wood @ Microsoft Dynamics GP - Recent Threads

Hi all. Dynamics GP2016 R2 on prem.

I have looked through the blogs and forum and haven't really found anything I can use, though I've spent a couple of hours getting some good ideas for other projects :).

Problem Statement: As an end user, I would like to reduce the number of "needless" clicks when uploading a Safe Pay transaction.

Current Steps:
1) Financial>Safe Pay>Transactions Upload
2) Select Bank Upload ID and click Load/Reload transactions
3) Click Upload
4) Click "Proceed" on the confirmation dialogue to upload the transactions
5) Click "OK" to dismiss the File Location dialogue
6) Click "OK" to dismiss the "Please obtain...confirmation number" dialogue
7) Enter confirmation number and click Successful button
8) Select a destination for the Safe Pay Uploaded Transactions report and click OK
9) Close (or save) the report

In the end-user's mind, steps 4-9 should be eliminated. Is there a way to suppress (turn off) the dialogue boxes and disable the report? I have a feeling that we'd need to address the "confirmation number is required" logic as well. Maybe a constant value?

I wonder if a macro is the solution to eliminate the need to alter any code?

How would YOU do it?

Kind Regards,

Jody Wood

Client is using BBVA as the bank and basically wants to be able to add free form text for each AP VOUCHER (not payment) to be included in the Addenda record of a CCD+ file. A standard NACHA format accepts 80 characters, and the client will need close to that in many cases. And again, it needs to be free form text, it isn't going to be just a concatenation of various fields from GP.

BBVA implied other GP customers are doing this with no issue and I just can't think of a way to make this happen out of the box.

Vendor Modifier - Mass Upload

by ShannonD @ Microsoft Dynamics GP - Recent Threads

We are currently attempting a mass Vendor ID change, so I crated a comma delimited spreadsheet with the current vendor ID in the first column and the new Vendor ID in the second. The issue I'm running into is that a lot of the current Vendor IDs have commas in them (most of our Vendor IDs are Last Name, First Initial). So when I go to validate my spreadsheet, the system is picking up the last name as the current ID and the first initial as the new ID, and therefore unable to find the vendor in the system. Is there any way around this, or how do I set up my spreadsheet so the system picks up the correct fields? TIY!

Default accounts on unposted cash receipt transactions

by CarolynN @ Microsoft Dynamics GP - Recent Threads

Is there a way to run the default accounts for a batch of Cash Receipts transactions?

In other words, I have a batch of unposted cash receipts. I have brought them in through SmartConnect with no distribution. This was due to the issue where eConnect (and therefore SmartConnect) will not apply invoices where either the apply from or apply to document is not in the functional currency.

I was able to import the apply information another way, but now I need to run the default accounts for each transaction.

If I bring up each cash receipt and click the Distribution button, the proper distribution populates (the RM10101 for this transaction is empty before clicking the Distribution button).

I want to avoid having to open up all non-functional cash receipts and click the distribution button, so I was hoping there may be a stored procedure I can pass in each payment number and have it default the distributions.

Other than that, does anyone have any indication as to when or if eConnect will support cash application in non-functional currency? If it is entered directly into GP, this has been functional since GP2013.

Thank you.

Need to copy an exact version of Fixed Assets Federal Book to a New Book

by LisaM89 @ Microsoft Dynamics GP - Recent Threads

I am new to GP and then first request I've been asked to create a new book that is an exact copy of the Federal book in Fixed Assets. I've been told that I need to 1) create the new book, 2) create the Book Classes, 3) load the assets.

I've got several comments and questions. Most important - is there a way to copy the entire book? If not, how do I download the list of assets (I've looked at some of the reports and cant seem to get the required data)? Also, is there a way to systematically load the Book Classes? We have 142 book classes, and entering those manually will be very time consuming.

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

RE: Adding a new bank account

by MattPaulen @ Adding a new bank account

You are definitely on track.

I'd create a whole new GL account for the new bank account and then assign that to the new checkbook ID that you create. Each module under the main setup window has a default checkbook you can select. Switch that to the new checkbook ID when you are ready. And yes, I'd keep doing both reconciliations until the old checkbook has everything cleared and is closed.

RE: Default accounts on unposted cash receipt transactions

Hello,

Unfortunately the Default Distributions are re-calculated using Dexterity code in Microsoft Dynamics GP, so you would almost need a customization outside of SQL to click the default button for you on the distributions.

How Can I Open a Bank Account When My Credit Sucks?

Two Cents

Dear Two Cents,I'm finally in a position to start saving some money. I now have an adequate emergency fund, and I'd like to eventually get started with basic investing. But for now, I want to earn interest on my emergency fund, as it's currently just sitting in a low-yield savings account.

What is a Monthly Maintenance Fee, and How Do I Avoid Them?

What if you asked a friend to watch over your precious jewels and she said, “Yeah, no problem.” But later on, she hit you up for a monthly fee for babysitting your jewelry. How would you feel, especially as she didn’t tell you upfront about this so-called fee? Probably a little peeved, right? Unfortunately, this […]
